During our European road trip this summer we had booked some places in advance and left other days free for spontaneity. One of the places we had booked in advance (months in advance actually) was Mas des Pascaux near Cassis in Provence. The place looks stunning on the web and as they only have two guest rooms, we knew that this was the right place to enjoy some days of total relaxation.
The expectations were high and I somehow didn’t believe that it would be as good as on the pictures (I tend to be sceptical, can’t help it…).
However, there was no need to fear this time! After driving up the mountain for quite some time, we reached the house and just entering the drive way and seeing the house bathed in the afternoon sun, we found sudden peace and felt at home.
We were greeted by the lovely owner Pascale, who invited us for lemonade while explaining everything about the area.

The house is located a ten minutes drive from Cassis, where there are plenty of places to go for lunch and dinner. We brought pizzas home on the first night to enjoy on the terrace and baguettes, ham and cheese for the next day. We stayed during the European Football Championship and were invited inside their private living room to watch the final with Pascale and her husband.
Every morning we woke up to a true French breakfast in beautiful settings.

There is a large pool in the garden and as there are only two guest rooms, you will be very likely to have it by yourself..

Nice to know about Mas des Pascaux:
+ The place is popular so do book in advance
+ It is perfect for some days of total relaxation by the pool, as a base when exploring Provence or as a base for a working holiday (as mentioned earlier they offer free WiFi)
+ The price is very reasonable, we paid around 145 € per night incl. breakfast in the high season
+ A car is needed as there is no public transportation up there
+ They only serve breakfast, so you will need to drive for lunch or dinner or bring something home to enjoy on the terrace (there are refrigerators in the rooms)
+ While you are here, you should definitely explore Les Calanques (the famous cliffs in Cassis). Pascale has a contact of a company who does the best tours by boat (will come in a separate blog post)
+ Bring cash to pay or do it via bank transfer, no credit cards
